Something perfectly innocent or a bit suspicious?

I was at work today, had to pick one of the guys up from day placement on a farm. I was driving down the track down to the farm, which has a few houses off the side of it. There is a sort of layby part way down and there was a white transit parked in it. Now, at this stage i thought nothing of it, perfectly normal for the odd car to be parked down there. On the way back though (no more than a couple of minutes later) the van was still there and i could see a horses bum behind it. I thought a rider had just pulled in to let us past. But as i went past i could see the horse was TIED to the back of the van, which then started to drive the way that i had just come from.

If you saw this, would you think tha it was perfectly innocent?

a horse tied to the back of a van whilst it drove off?!

NO! id ask at the farm what was going on if it was happening on their track, or if they knew the people doing it?

The track does belong to the farm as such. It just leads down to it. I was going to turn around and follow it, but with it being a single track lane would have had to have gone right back up to the main roads (so it would have disappeared by the time i got there.

The bloke in the driver seat shot a filthy look as i passed (but i thought nothing of it)

i'm starting to wish i had atleast managed to make a note of the number plate

Maybe you could report it to someone-- it's definetly not safe/right horse handling...

Or perhaps you could go down to the farm sometime and take a look? Though if it's private... maybe play the 'help, I'm lost' card if anyones about!?

What was it,...a racehorse!?

Sorry couldnn't resist it! I should certainly ask locally.

It may be worth reporting it to the non-emergency number for the police with an approximate time, a description of the van (old/new/make/model etc), as much info as your can about the horse (colour, marking etc) and anything you can recall about the driver. It may not seem like much info to you but at least it gives the Police something to work with if foul play has occurred...
