I posted in vet lounge about my horse that has colic since Weds vet has taken bloods and suspects either a virus/kidneys/peritonitis

Anyway the lady who isn't the YO but kind of takes charge has implied on sevral occasions that it's my fault he 's ill.

If it's not the type of hay i'm feeding it's because he's an ex racer and I dont know what i'm doing etc.

I have worked on a riding school /livery yard for 2 yrs had horses since i can't remember when,.... and got to stage 2 in my bhs exams& passed nvq level 2 but anyway a lot of horsemanship is common sense ?.

I normally don't take much notice of what other people say but because I am so worried about my horse being ok it's really getting to me atm.

I would never intentionally do anything to harm any animal and I just feel there are some things you think in your head but don't say out loud.

She even hung around last night to tell the vet what I have been feeding him and generally pointing the finger.

for the record he is a 16.2 TB gelding has chaff & calm & condition and ad lib hay and has never had colic or anyting similar in the time I have had him

Sorry just feeling really rubbish and tired at the minute

Just tell that nosey person that the vet will tell you what's wrong - not them! You've not been feeding anything different than I feed my ex-racer tb so don't panic!! Trust your vet! I hope tests come back with answers for you.

Theres always one on every yard isnt there? Tell this woman in the nicest possible way to NAFF OFF!! The matter is between you and your vet and your horse.

Hope your horse gets better soon x

I feed my ex-racer exactly the same thing. You are feeding properly. It sounds like the YO doesn't like Calm and Condition. Tell YO to FO and mind her own business. I had an arguement when mine was on full livery. YO fed my ex-racer four feeds per day of nuts, mix, sugar beet, build up, and chaff after she had been turned out over winter on the side of a fell with no food. When she exploded and I asked what he was feeding her, he told me. I nearly exploded at that point with anger as I had asked her to have two small feeds per day of non-heating cubes and chaff and ad lib haylage. Ended up with an argument and I have since moved yards. It is your horse, so feed as you see fit!

What a horrid and spiteful person she sounds.
Try and stand up to her, you should not have to put up with this in your hour of need, simple. I know its hard but don't let this imbecile continue to make you feel small and terrible x
