As I was fence judging today, I rode Billy before I left in the morning. He is currently out 24/7 (previously out in day in at night) to see if he will put on weight in the field and see if he is better like that.

Well, after catching him this morning, I decided to do some flatwork - nice and supple for a change from the moment i sat on him.

However, when we went into canter I had absolutely no control :D He felt so well he decided to show me just how well, as we did lap after lap of the arena in a fast canter, and billy is 17h so is quite a fast canter! All I could do was laugh, was grinning as he basically was grinning from toes to tail and was just in a very silly, happy mood! After 20 or so laps I eventually got him back to a trot!
:p Obviously he is very happy out 24/7! :D

What made you smile today?

Mally, for a change ;)

She went for a 'grown up' hack today, her very first along the main roads and all by herself! She was so boingy and happy to be out and about, the drain/white road markings/st george day bunting couldn't even dampen her mood!

Riding in the paddock today in the glorious sunshine, with my horse going better than he ever has, made me smile today.

And also when the geese landed on the pond as we trotted past, and we very quickly ended up on the other side of the paddock - that made me smile too :)

Rode in my new saddle for the first time it's so comfy for us both, I was grinning from ear to ear. Beautiful sunshine and nice ride.

The lady who has my super grey boy on loan going for her first solo hack in over 2 years after totally losing her confidence on her previous horse. She has had him since August last year and started hacking in company, or with me on the ground after a couple of months but this was such a massive thing for her I am really proud of her - and of course Joe for being the super star confidence builder he is. They were both smiling when they came back I swear :)

Letting wee Annie out in the field for the first time in a week :D She was very excited and proceeded to bounce around the field all day in the sun shine

My boy is full of "the joys of spring" (nudge nudge wink wink!) - he was supposed to babysit a younger pony on it's first hack out today but literally squeaked and boinged his way down the road whilst looking longingly and, quite frankly, eagerly back at the girls in the field :D. He's 9....I've had him for nearly 5 years and this has NEVER happened before (late developer?!?!). Luckily he refrained from anything but bouncy squeaking.....and the younger chap excelled himself by walking out beautifully and only having a second look at some lambs!
