Yesterday morning taking my little girl to school along a country road ( although used as a 'rat run), we found a stray dog, scared out of it life and nearly getting hit by cars from all ways, and nobody was slowing down asnd stopping, quite unbeliveable, it had a collar and was near a farm so obviously cant have gone far, I was headless chicken!!!!!!!

I managed to get it down the track, and sure enough it did belong at the farm, its owner was besides herself, I explained what had been going and she insisted I left my address so she could send us a card, it was not necessary but she insisted

Well tonight, I got home to a card and some money to treat my daughter to something nice!!!!! if I had been at home I would have given the money back, but we were not in.

What a nice thing for her to do, and what idiots everyone else was for not stopping for a lovely dog that as soo obviously scared out of its witts.

I think that this is my perfect christmas gift, stangers just helping each other.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, the world is no soo bad

Had a similar experience just before Christmas a few years ago. I was driving down the road and there was a young spaniel running in the road who was clearly lost. I don't usually stop and pick dogs up (one of my dogs often goes walkabout but always come back) but this one was obviously panicking. I phoned the owners who were really grateful and had been out looking for him. They came to pick him up and insisted I took the expensive bottle of scotch they had brought with them. I didn't have the heart to tell them I don't like scotch!

I like hearing stories like this :D Makes a nice change from hearing about people smashing windows and throwing things at police officers.

The world needs more people like you OP and like the lady whose dog it was.

I thought i had lost my dog a few weeks ago (long story) but infact i found her round the corner, after i had walked the opposite way round the block so when i got to where she was, i was beside myself!! if she really had been missing and someone had returned her to me I too would give financial or material reward, simply because she is the love of my life!

What a lovely story. Me and OH were saying how much there is a lack of community spirit these days and was especially evident during the recent snowy period. No one getting together clear drives/paths and thinking about helping eachother. Glad the poor dog got home safely. My dog would be petrified if she got lost, she only has 1 eye and that has a big cataract in it. I would hope someone would help her if she was lost.
