Ive noticed this morning my little cocker spaniel has another issue with his manhood.... around the outside of it its really red (think red raw)... he's licking it which we are trying to stop (he has a round collar if needby)....

He isnt crying or distressed but i am worried about him - our vets are shut and im in work in 30 mins (but someone else home with him all day)...i cant leave the poor little sod until monday - is there anything i can give him/put on it until then??

he wont let me near it without picking him up and flipping him over so its obviously bugging him as he's getting more restless....

Do i bathe it and put ? on it?

No question about taking him the vets if its urgent but its like a sore on the tip of his manly area.... ??
i feel stupid as last time i rung them his willy wouldnt go back where it belonged for a while and i felt like a prat when they said this is normal!! :D :o

Is he passing water ok?
I would prob give the out of hours number a call- if only for advice. Or find a vets locally that's open on a sat morning for advice.
You could prob bathe it with lightly salted water- check he has nothin stuck? Maybe sudocrem or something to soothe it? But vets will no best

yep just rung them :o

the tip looks very swolen too - its making me wonder if he's got an infection?

he seems to be weeing fine( this dog wees and craps for england...)! but i will get my mum who's "dogminding" today to make sure he's passing ok and not weeing blood or anything nasty....

my lab licks himself loads- i was worried he had infection but no he was just being randy. He wasn't swollen tho just quite red.
Just get your mum to keep an eye but at least you spoke to them don't worry i ring mine with odd questions all the time!

i think he's going the vets.... ive literally sat with him as im on here and he's now biting it and its started to bleed :(

he's obviously sore the poor lad - spesh on the manhood.... so will ask my mum to take him the vets...

totally typical at £120 for a consultation out of hours :o :o :o

have you given it a good once over to make sure hes got nothing in it? mine pees on the worst of prickle bushes and plants so is always needing a helping hand.

I'd opt for the out of hours vets though in case its more serious. If his penis is stuck outside his sheath he'll need swift medical attention

he wont let me near it....

he's the soppiest pup ever... (he's 8 months)

currently snoozing though so least he's leaving it alone!..... will ask my mum's opinion when she gets home (im 24 btw not a kid but we do value one another's opinions)!

thanks guys :)

Thanks all! and thanks for the pm :)

its cleared up tons since this morning - been bathed and he has left it alone!

making me wonder as he's so close to the ground if something has stung it? or hurt it?

he's 100% fine now though but any other issues he will be going the vets :)

maybe he got some grit in the sheath from mud/wet ground? and you bathing it flushed it out. Glad hes leaving it alone now tho, poor boy
