Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions regarding my horses heel bulb?

I have a rising 2 year old that is barefoot. I have noticed that one side of one of his rear bulbs has worn the top layer of skin.

He's not lame, there is no heat in it, doesn't mind you touching it and It's not weeping.

I'm not sure if its just because of the hard ground and it's rubbed or when getting him in from the field he's stood on a stone and it's grazed the skin off.

My friend sprayed a blue spray (in a yellow can) she had from the vets on it and said to use it for 3 days as it is antibiotic and will harden the area?

Do you think i should get my vet or farrier out? Am I just being a over protective mum or am i being a complete numpty and it's nothing?

Thanks

It sounds like the skin has exfoliated itself. If theres no obvious pain or discharge then I wouldnt really worry too much. As your horse is a youngster it will be constantly changing as he grows. Why not ring your vet if your worried? My vet will give advice over the phone and it would give you peace of mind.
