I have posted recently regarding my horses heels. Started a month ago when out 24/7 as a sore on the heel of his hind leg. Thought he had cut it so poulticed and all seemed fine. Then he kept getting wounds which looked like he had rubbed his foot on the fence. Vet came out and said it was mites and sores were self inflicted from scratching. Treated with frontline and sprayed twice a day with blue spray and steriod cream. All seemed okay for a couple of weeks and then it came back again. Different vet came out and said it was thrush and to keep in for 10 days. Treated with iodine and formaldehyde twice a day and hibiscrub every thrid day. Cleared up by the second day and blacksmith came out cut back frogs and couldn't find anything wrong with feet. No thrush. Other hind foot started to get a little sore on it which seemed to turn into a split- at this point had not been in field for three days!! 10 days on there were no sore all lovely and clean until this morning he has rubbed his heel again. Again he was in over night and no sores when I left last night. Not bad but still a sore patch on it. Last Sat he was stamping feet and I frontlined again. Has anyone else had anything similar? I think it mites or bites. He has no feathers and it is quite low on the foot mostly in between the heel bulbs!!
