Sore Leg!

Hi All,

My girl managed to loose her shoe & over reach boot on Monday, she was shawed yesterday but when I went down this morning her knee/cannon/fetlock was swollen, trotted her up & she was sound. On closer examination I realised she has 2 cuts, one just at her knee & the other one inside her forearm!! God knows what she's been up to in the field.

I have cleaned the cuts with hibiscrub, put some green oils on & as far as i know she is out.

Will see how she is when she comes in, if it still swollen will cold hose her.

Any other suggestions?
 
I would get farrier out for shoe - i'm assuming as front one. To help at night i would bandage both fronts and then keep close eye, if any doubt phone and speak to vets asap
 
you have cleaned themwitch is good keep them clean get farrier out asap to re shoe cold hose morning and night give some arica tablets and plaster the swallon bits in witch hazel witch will help with the sweeling leave or out to work it off to that for a couple of days if no better call the vet!
 
Did you mean she was shod yest VM? That's bound to make her feel comfy. But I was wondering about the cut on the knee. Are you sure it is superficial? Is there any chance it could have penetrated the joint at all? Any signs of clear fluid oozing out of it? If you have any doubts whatsoever about this, you need to get the vet as a medical emergency. Even apparently minor inuries that penetrate the joint capsule can be fatal. Let us know how she is x
 
lol! yes sorry meant shod, thought that didn't look right!!

When she came in yesterday swelling was down, went down this morning & the swelling back up, no fluid coming out of cuts, cleaned them again put some green oils on & put her out, called the vet - there coming out either today or tomorrow.
