My eventer has a sore mouth in each corner which he has always got as he pulls jumping!
I use vaseline in the corners which i think helps but the skin in the corners has gone pink & seems to be spreading. I wonder if this maybe a reaction to vaseline?

Does anyone know of any other things to use which is safe to use inside the mouth?

We put Preparation H on our horses mouths when they split- its heameroid (sp!?) cream and you can get it at chemist- sort of pack it into the hole, it sooths the sore and promotes healing. Have stopped putting vaseline on regularly as it seems to make the skin more prone to splitting, just put it on when the skin seems dry esp after competition. We also salt water corners of mouth in the run up to an event. Hope that helps!

my boy bad cuts on the corners of his mouth from pulling-makes me not want to stop him so he doesnt hurt himself. I use lanolin(think thats what its called), made from the oil off sheeps wool i think-was told by vet it was best thing, seems to work quite well. Wish i could stop the cuts though, they are horrible and must hurt!!
