Two of my horses have sore noses, i asked the vet the other day when he was out if he knew what would be causing it & he didnt have a clue (mind you id be surprised if he had a clue about anything!). So any ideas? It doesnt look like sunburn, i can only think they are sticking their noses in something that doesnt agree with their noses.

My welshie has exactly the same thing! I've been putting cream on it to keep it moisturized as his muzzle is really dry at the moment i think because of the dry weather and the dry ground and grazing etc! Seems to have helped a little but its been there for about 2 weeks now!

Was going to say the same re the buttercups, there are a few other plants that can cause as well. Sudocrem slapped on regularly should help heal.

Awh poor ponies that looks sore. Have you put something on them - Aloe Vera gel is great for things like this. Though have not seen anything like this before. I have appaloosas and they have pink noses - so they wear full face masks (during day) for sunburn. Could it be something that is making them photosensitive, something in the field? We all have so many more allergies these days - could be many things - we are presently surrounded by yellow oil seed rape - am waiting for things to happen!!!! Sorry can't suggest anything helpful but will watch this post to see if anyone else comes up with anything. Did you post this on the Veterinary pages? Good luck.

Only have a handful of buttercups really, nothing to shout about though. Lots of brambles, gorse, reeds, oh & grass lol. The other thing is my bay gelding (in the pic on my first post) had this last year for a couple of weeks, but i didnt think much about it then, but they were on different grazing then, which had no weeds or rubbish in at all (cattle grazing so really good grass). Thats why i cant figure out whats causing it.
Just to give you an idea this is the grazing they were on last year:

& this is this year:

sorry to drag up an old post but was wondering if anyone had anythoughts on this?

My horse had the same last year (around may/june time) and has started with it again this week.

we have no buttercups on the yard and none of the other horses (including my other who is turned out in the same field) have been affected. Im stumped?!?!
