Just spotted this this morning when I was putting his bridle on - his tongue is red and sore on the corners about where it meets the edge of his incisors. They aren't sharp - he does have tushes but they are nowhere near the ulcerated area. The only other time I have seen his tongue sore is when a very heavy handed man rode him, and then he had sores at the sides of his tongue. If anything I use less contact than I have been advised to, and I did ride him on a very long rein this morning, but he was reluctant. Any ideas/experience? I won't be putting his bit in until the tongue is better and I know ulceration heals well in the saliva, but I don't know what caused it. As I said, the edges of his incisors aren't sharp, I can run my finger over them without any skin damage.
