Sore white lips after riding- lip care advice please

Advice please.
15.2hh coloured cob, one side of mouth black, one side white.
Black side is fine, but white side is ALWAYS sore after riding. If he is lunged on a caverson but has a bridle on underneath it is still sore.
We have tried loads of different bits, rider doesnt make any difference. NO RIDER WITH HEAVY HANDS RIDES HIM.
Forward going easy ride, he doesnt have his mouth pulled about at all!
We are desperate for some new ideas.

I find Vaseline helps a bit (my chap is apply and gets sore mouth) I am also using gel bit guards which help a bit. I tried loads of different bits and none seemed any better. Good luck
 
Bit guards . My boy has pink side and a black side. The only time his pink side gets sore is if he's been strong and I've had to hold him back , which is not much! If maybe check you have the right width of bit too.
