Pony is going through a change of coat and his full clip is slowly growing. Have noticed sores either side from where riders boots are (like rug rubs).

Whats best to put on to sooth and tuffen up the skin ?

Didnt happen last year as only had a belly clip and has been fine all winter - so must be something to do with coat changing over past few weeks.

thanks

Or something to do with riders legs being constantly in contact? Teach the rider to drop their feet down and away - if the legs are always there the leg aid cannot be put on and removed to give a proper aid, they become meaningless.
Otherwise check the skin - it might be perfectly fine and just the actual hair being affected? If the skin is damaged, go back to the first paragraph :)

I have one pair of boots that I can't wear when I ride CM. All my other boots are fine and don't rub, plus short boots and chaps don't rub, so I just don't wear that particular pair for riding any more.

Rubber boots can cause the hair to be rubbed out. I've known people to use Cornucrescine on just that sort of rub with good results, but not needed to do it myself.

Interestingly I noticed a few showjumpers competing at Olympia with little square patches left on where the riders heels would be on an otherwise fully clipped horse I assume to prevent this happening.

You can use surgical spirit to help the skin toughen up, vaseline is another option.

Whilst cornecresin will get the hair to grow back will make an awful mess of boots!
