My lorry is on sorn at the moment but is now due for plating. I can't tax it without the plate... so can I drive to the plating appointment with no tax? Help?!

i think you would need someone to take it there for plating on trade plates, as no plate will invalidate your insurance, and also not taxed. best talk to your mechanic/garage that services/maintains the vehicle.

I checked with my insurance company when I was in this situation, and they said that I would be covered by them as long as the appointment was booked and I only drove there and back. Perhaps a quick call to your IC would be an idea? :)

Yes, you can drive it to a pre-booked test (either plate OR MOT) as long as it is booked in with registration number etc.
BUT you cannot take it anywhere else, and you must have insurance for it.
This is the only time you will be covered under your insurance, but always best to let them know anyway.

:)
