First off, there is NO WAY Genie is up for sale! Her insurance is up for renewal soon and I'm considering changing the amount she's insured for, so if you could let me know your thoughts that would be fab!

So...

15hh Bay Welsh D Mare
6 years old
Does all RC activities, has done camp, rallies, etc
Good to box, shoe, clip, etc
Has had a STONKING show season this year, with 14 1sts, 3 2nds, 4 3rds, 1 4th and 1 6th. No unplacings. Beating the county horses in ridden M&M classes.

BUT she is Unregistered so stuck at local level when it comes to showing.

So... how much would you insure her for?

She is lovely. Looks loads of fun.

Not my type of horse, so not tht up on prices, but I would say £3500 perhaps? Bearing in mind its what you'd pay to replace her and the market is quite low. Also bear in mind that it will make your premiums go up...

Depending on your insurance company and their limits you will more than likely have to have a new 5 stage vetting done and also letters from professionals or print outs of her competition records to support your new price. It's not as easy as saying she is now worth £x more than she is insured for.

It might not be worth doing.

I've upped the value on my youngster when it hit 6, and an older horse as it won more at affiliated, and the insurance didn't bat an eyelid. I upped one from £5k to £8k, and one from £3k to £5k without needing letters or vettings.

you did well finding that many classes for an unreg M&M. Around here they have to be reg even at local level.

I'd prob say £3.5-£4. (I'd have aaid more if she'd have been reg. Because she's not I'm valueing her as being just a nice RC PC alrounder)

When I wanted to up my mares value (she'd been broken in) I had to have her "valued" by a professional 3rd party (vet, judge or instructor). Didn't have to have her vetted though.

I would say at least 5k lovely horse and can comfortably do RC. If she is totally bomb proof then maybe even more. I agree though, if you are using the same insurance company or a new one they might ask for a vetting.

She is gorgeous and I really don't 'do' mares.

Thanks everyone! Yes she's bombproof in traffic - hacked her down a main road alone as a 4 year old - Articulated Lorries not a problem, little yellow flower slightly more problematic. I was offered £4,500 for her earlier this year, but will NEVER sell her, she's too brilliant!

Anybody else's thoughts more than welcome!

first fig. that sprung to ind- £5k, I bought four year old un reg cob a couple of years ago for £2750 if my memory serves me correctly and that was for horse that had been backed, ridden out but no real schooling so taking int account what yours has done, and the fact you have had so many placings and wins speaks for itself!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone! I shall give my insurers a call to see what hoops I would have to jump through, although they have said I can increase Titch's value later on just by calling up, so we shall see what they say! I bought her for just over £3,000 as a 4 year old, when prices were high. Paid a lot for what she was at the time, but she's been more than worth it!

chickeninabun - Yes she is indeed just 6! I've taken it slowly with her and the results are showing for it! :D

I would insure here for £5 K maybe even £5 and a half, as you wont find another one like her and its the replace price, you might find another good WC but not one like her, she is fab very mature and has done seriously well this season, not only with your show winnings but with all the other dressage, XC etc etc. Look at those throphies you have won this year, would £3.5K buy you another Genie that you could take out and do that again with next year (hypothetically speaking that you don't have her)??? That's what you have to think about.

TBH I think that she's worth nothing and that you should give her to meeeeeeeeeee!!! ;) She can come and live with my welshie :D

Seriously, I would say about £4500-£5000. Brilliant horse :)
