Due to me losing 5 stone, i am selling my H/W cob to get something more suitable for dressage. I have always dreamed of getting a M/W 16.2-17.2hh schoolmaster type, but my weight has held me back. After losing my weight my riding has progressed so much i feel ready to upgrade.

So.....the ned that needs to be sold is:

-rising 7 H/W well marked piebald cob 16.1hh, CHAPS passport, microchipped, vacs up to date, teeth done april
-good confo for his type, already passed 5 stage as RC horse last April
-very active paces, responsive forward going ride, very supple for his type
-hacks out alone, in company
-loves his jumping - jumps sj well - regulary schooled at around 3ft, and been 1st twice at a local show, placed inhand at local show
-xc schooled regulary and went clear at his first 2ft class in spring
-would suit RC home, where he is competing as he loves it!

Ive never sold a horse before (had 1st PTS) so i dont know where to start!

I am not sure of price but have a look on the Horsequest site under cobs to try to get a feel for price. You do get cobs out there doing affiliated dressage though!

Firstly well done for losing 5 stone - wow!

Have you a pic of your cob? I may know someone that is interested but he may be a bit too heavy.

There are a lot of coloured/cobs advertised in Horse Deals - I am sure they have a web site, it's a good mag/site for loads of horses for sale. You could see what they are selling for.

He sounds awful - a complete nightmare!
Therefore you should just ship him over to me and be done with him!

On a more serious note, I'd say £4500 because he's six... Mind you, I'd put 7 not six on his ad, but then again I may be talking rubbish!

If I were you, the advert would be something like this in a mg:

WEIGHTCARRYING ALLROUNDER
7yo heavyweight piebald 16.1hh cob, CHAPS reg, responsive ride with active paces, hacks alone and in company, jumps 3ft courses with ease, won SJ local level and placed showing. Good XC, clear 2ft HT. Suit riding club home.

Is he good to catch/box/shoe and clip?

He is good to do in all ways although needs twitching for the farrier, but very manageable, as he had a not so good experience with a farrier. He is getting better all the time though.

Well done for losing 5 stone - i am 2 and half stone into a 4 stone weight loss so congratulations!!!

He sounds lovely- I lost my HW show cob 2 weeks ago so am looking at lots of adds I would say the same as the above loook at adds and see - he sounds wonderful so let me know how much when you do sell him!!!! It varies there are some going for 2500 and others going for 6000 shop around. i would place the asking price higher than you want as you can always come down if you find somene special for him- its harder than going up when you realise how much hes worth if that makes sense

good luck xxxx

Thanks BeutifulWobble!

Congrats on your weightloss too! It makes such a difference to your life and riding - i really feel like im living my life now!
