Just thought I'd ask you guys as I really have no idea how much to ask for my mare.
Never thought I'd ever be selling her to be honest and am still not 100% but need to explore all my avenues at the moment.
I've owned her for 10 years. We have mostly done BSJA and some BD. She is now about 14/15 years old and sound but has decided she really needs an easier life. She jumps fab at home and is as keen as mustard. Can go to a show and jump fab on one outing and just throw the towel in the next time. She has been checked out by all the usual people saddler/dentist and extensive veterinary and nothing major been turned up. So I've just come to the conclusion that she isn't enjoying the jumping lark so much these days.
The trouble is although we do BD I don't especially enjoy it and neither of us are particularly spectacular at it either. She's capable of a mid 60s test affiliated novice and is working at a higher level at home but although she works correctly she's not flashy enough to really suceed affiliated dressage.
She hacks out no bother. Travels no problem. Shoeing no problem. No vices. A bit tricky to clip. I never do her head because of this. But otherwise easy to handle and a real softy.
I'm considering hunting her this winter to see if that gets her thinking positively about jumping again. But if not I think I really need to think about getting another horse to BSJA on and I can't feasibly afford to keep two :-(
The money isn't the real issue here and I just want a gold star home for her with someone that can give her an easier life maybe hacking and unaffiliated dressage... but at the same time I don't want to give her away as i think that attracts the wrong sort of people thinking they'll get a 'bargain' horse. But with her jumping issues and her age I'm not sure that she's worth a great deal any more ??? She has some BS money... can't remember how much but she can still do BN comfortably.... not that that is important if she's going to a non-jumping home and she has about 15 BD points. She is a horse that loves to work and still more than capable of doing a job for someone and definitely not ready to be a field ornament!
Any idea how much to ask to be realistic without attracting numpties?
Thanks to anyone that replies.

i recently brought a 14 year old who can do better then u have decribed but i only do local shows on her as i am new to being an owner. we recently got a 78% on a dressage test at a local show.

she cost me 5000 but is worth 7000 but they can still sometimes use her.

i assume that she would still do local and the first stages of affiliated so would be good for someone new to owning but had had lots of lessons like me. (18years in my case and im only 20).

i would imagine if there is nothing wrong with her and she is nice to have around and can teach someone how to enter the equine world of competitions then i dont see why she wouldnt make 3000 or so. definatly wouldnt sell her for pennies as a happy hacker is work decent money if they are sound and truly happy hackers.

Ok thank you that's very helpful and interesting to hear.
Also sorry have realised we are not allowed to do how much posts and will be asking for this post to be removed. But thanks for your input anyway.
