I'm sure you're all probably going to get fed up of my questions soon! Just want to make sure I do the best I can.

So I've decided to stick with my farrier for now and see how it goes. And I've ordered some pro balance which should arrive tomorrow.

Marley has been progressing quite well. WalKing out in boots and pads well and looking fairly comfy in the field without boots. His field is on a slight incline and I can see the lameness in his left fore when he walks up this (this lameness is the reason I took them off). Tonight he didn't look as comfy walking in hand in his boots and pads on the left fore. I still walked him for 20 mins and decided to leave the boots on overnight. He is out 24/7 at the minute and due to come in at night soon (usually I bring in when clocks go back). I have read it can be normal for them to look like they are taking a step back soon after shoes are removed if they have been doing well and I am wondering if this could be happening? Or if he's been playing too hard with my other boy and over done it and as his foot is still weak made the initial problem flare up more? The only other thing it could be is the grass. I arrived at the yard the other evening to find they had been given the other side of their paddock which has some nice green grass on it!

After I walked him there was an elevated pulse in his left fore and I could barely feel one in the right. After standing for a while this did subide so that I had to really feel to find it. I have given him a double dose of his zeolite which is meant to be very good for helping with lush grass and laminitis if given at a double dose.

Should I be worried by him being uncomfortable on that left fore now or does this sound normal? I will see how he is in the morning and decide whether to leave the boots on or not as I know they are meant to be kept as comfy as possible.

It is probably early days,it takes ages for some horses to be comfy barefoot.Personally I would avoid short lush grass for as long as possible, and don't be in hurry to stable him as movement is essential for their transition,I too kept boots on in the field when I thought they helped.Good luck and stick with it.

Thanks. I left him in his boots today too and have just walked him again and he is a lot comfier tonight back to being almost sound in them. I think I will leave them on tonight again and take them off for a few hours tomorrow and see how he goes. I don't think it helps that they both play like two year olds most the time! Interested to see if there will be more improvement once he's on the pro balance.
