All being well, I am going to clip Mac tonight. He was dripping with sweat just standing in the field last night. What I need to know is, as it is meant to be so warm for the next few days, and he really is a hot bod, should I rug him overnight? He is out, so can move about to keep warm. I would obviously rug him if it got cold again.

Have never had to clip this early, hence don't know what to do for the best.

It depends on clip you are going to give him? He may fine without rugs if you only doing a bib or a chaser clip. Anything more I'd put on a 100-150g rug.

im clipping my TB this mornin as he is dripping within 20mins of working. he is having a kind of chaser- all neck off and down to behind girth. I am going to just put on a fleece lined rug no fill with neck cover at night whilst its warm then if temp drops increase. b ut he is thin skinned and not terribly hot horse.

I put just a sheet on my fully clipped pony for the last two nights, and she's plenty warm enough. The first night I clipped her (saturday) I put a 180gm rug on her, and she was absolutely boiling in the morning.

I'm full clipping my highland at the weekend. I think I'll shove a lightweight on overnight (assuming it cools off next week, as predicted) as (shocking though this is for a highland) he really doesn't need to lose any weight :D
