Sorry if your getting fed up of me posting but i just had to share this with you.
Today I took Herbs out hacking again. It started like normal with me leading him up the track but today he stood still for me to get on.
I desided to be brave and take him onto the open forest today, Uptill now I have been keeping him in the wooded areas. We rode through the woods and across the stream, then I followed the stone path out the woods. When we left the woods he just had a little look around and then carried on up the path. We had a few trots and I thought I'd give him a canter along the ridge at the top. When we got to the ridge we couldn't have a canter as there where two riders ahead of us
Herbs was realy good though. He suddenly got strong and I could tell he wanted to catch up with the horses infront as he was walking at 100mph but he didn't even jog.
I turned off the ridge down the stone path that leads back to the woods. We crossed the stream. Someone has built jumps in the woods out of fallen branches and twigs and in a massive moment of madness I jumped him over two small ones

(he's only ever jumped on the lunge and never with a rider on and i'm terrified of jumping) He loved it although he got very strong after the second one and took off in canter. I just sat up and said whoa and he pulled up.
I then found a nice grass track to have a canter up. I pulled him up at the end only to find we where face to face with a herd of wild ponies
Oh my god I thought this is where I die.
Herbs walked passed them looking at them. I was telling him what a good boy he was when he suddenly spun round to face the ponies
I thought "Lucy help me" just then he whinned. I asked him to turn round expecting us to have a huge argument about it but he just turned round and walked on the way i wanted him to.
He got such a big pat and I told him what a good boy he was the whole way home.
Thanks for reading i'm just so proud of him. I can't believe he's the same pony I bought. What a bargin he is turning out to be.
