The girl currently riding May is interested in buying her. So a How much?

By Randi / (hornby's) ISH 16hh 8yr old Showjumper. Loves xc, good to hack, vet, box, clip, shoe. This girl knows she can be a handful/Madam at times, but absolutely loves it when she is bouncing around!! And wants something to BSJA. She jumps anything as long as she is ridden properly!! And is fast in a JO.

Was thinking the 5k mark as I would like to get something with a little less attitude and quieter that enjoys dressage!

I would agree with the 5K mark - although you may be willing to consider a lower price if it means a quick and successful sale????

sounds exactly like my mare, i picked her up for £3k, but she needed to be completely reschooled, a year on i am still reschooling

lol!
So it depends how she is on that front?
If well schooled on the flat but heated on the jumping side id say £5k, if needing alot of work schooling £3-3.5k!

Sounds like she is spot on for YR Sj, what would she go upto do you reckon? I'd agree at about 5k.

Do you really believe you can get a competitive YR's horse for £5k

No i'm not saying you can get a YR horse for 5k, am saying she sounds like she'd suit someone who was looking to go in that direction, if she was as enthusiastic about her job, and would go up the levels, hence me asking where she'd get to! Sorry, was me being inspecific.

Sorry, misread your post

The very smallest YR's classes are around 1.15m and they're rare. More often they're 1.25m upwards and at the highest levels they go upto about 1.50m, and you find that most of the horses jumping those have jumped internationally in the past. It's a very competitive area

Horse was there for the taking, and a famous SJer who was actually commentating at HOYS last week told him to sell the horse as it was crap!

Interesting that! after a good physio, horse is now jumping 1.50m classes like they are 1m!

Buuutttt there are people who wants something JUST to SJ on, and they are generally the YR "types" that arent bothered if they are slightly hot, aslong as they jump and are generally not brainless!! Hope makes sense!

PMSL!

I just think that there are loads of horses out there that have just not been *pushed to their limit* like Winston, had he been with someone better than me he would be Intermediate now - I know this as I watched him jump round an intermediate course as if it was an intro

just before i bought him.

Agreed tho, YO horse is a bit HOT and wouldnt settle with most riders.

I think you have to be pretty lucky to find one at that price!!

There are some out there granted but i think they usually have a few issues like your YO's one as it wont settle with just any rider or need someone considerate to bring out the best in them etc. And like you say need a rider that has done a far bit of producing.

Horses that can jump 1.25 tracks and are going for £2,500 a few and very far between.

I think Lisa is asking the right price for May though personally.

Yes, she does have BSJA winnings, think its £120 notional, to who ever asked before! Did expect so many responses!

Would'nt think she'd make a YR horse, she pops round a 110cm course and jumped (instructor jumped her!) 1.20/1.25 at home. I'm just not confident enough!

Awwww...u gonna sell her?
frown.gif
I can understand why you would if there is someone genuinely interested - 2 broken legs in the space of a year from the same horse...maybe a nice little saner number?!!! She's a lovely mare from what I remember of the pics, and I think you've told me how much you paid for her...I would say you are underestimating her at £5k if you go by the current market. However as someone else has said - for a quick sale and you know where she's going... I defo wouldn't accept less than £5k for her. I think in a "healthy" market (which it isn't at the moment) then you'd get about £7k for her I think.
