the stallion "weggs powder mountain"

my mare went to a stallion last year, maiden, and didn't hold AI too much fluid apparantly, but she went on to hold naturally.
is this common was it just luck or is AI not so sucessful.
the above stallion is AI so i was concerned with her not holding AI,though it will be a second foal.

thanks for reading hope it makes sense?

Oh i quite like him, hes nice.

Well don't know if you've seen my recent posts but my mare will not take to AI, stud could not find a thing wrong with her so they told me to get her covered naturally as they reckon she'll get in-foal naturally. This remains to be seen, i'll wait till i send herto the stallion. They also said they'd had a few mares like this. So prehaps there is somthing in it.

THat doesn't sound too good unless it was done on a health issue! If it was done for temperment, much as he's a lovely looking horse I don't think I would use him.

Have you looked at Northern Inspiration, he's not far from you?

Some mares dont hold AI first time, but once they have had a foal it works fine.
Also some stallions semen doesn't compe well with AI and freezing which would reduce chances of a pregnancy.
It may also be that the extender (what is mixed with the semen before insemination) that was used with the semen didnt suit your mare. We have found that we sometimes need to make a personalised extender for a mare. Some mares also have an allergic type reaction to the milk/egg base of it, which can prevent pregnancy.

have a look on www.breeding-services.com

they are really helpful and can give free advice on your mare!

regarding n/inspiration not sure what he would produce from my mare though???
