Does anyone tow with one of these?

I'm doing masses of comparisons at the moment, and have just 'noticed' these. The model I am looking at seems to have quite good average fuel comsumption, as well as being capable of towing 2800kgs braked weight, insurance group 10.

Just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience of them?

Well thats good news, and you tow with yours?

They look like a good option for me in terms of not wracking up the costs on fuel and insurance before I have even hitched up.....I would only be towing (likely a 505 - need to buy one!) and a 15.3 TB so dont really need anything that can tow upwards of 3.5 tonnes!

I have a diesel Frontera - it tows brilliantly, it really does and we have very steep hills round here wherever you go.

I am very pleasantly surprised at the fuel consumption too - not nearly as bad as I thought it would be and they are dead cheap compared to all the other 4x4's.

Mine is 8 yrs old but top of the range model so very comfortable interior but it takes a bit of handling - not a brilliant drive compared to a LandCruiser or Shogun for example for everyday. Its a bit of a tractor really but does the job!

It is very good off road too (with or without the trailer) - it has a push button 4x4 but I have rarely had to actually put it in low box - yet!!

I have just driven back from Bucks and floored it down the M4 and M5 for about 200 miles - quite a nice cruising car :) Tax was £240 (I think) and insurance was £230 ish.

Thanks Ravenwood thats really good to know. We have quite a few steep hills where we are (although probably nothing like yours!!) so nice to know it's capable!!

I was looking at a lwb 2000 reg TD on autotrader, it looked really smart and I was surprised at the mpg and insurance group and that it could tow 2800kgs!

I'm only going to be towing one TB, and when looking at the Shogun's and Isuzu's, the cost of running them day to day was starting to make my eyes water! The Frontera seems to meet my needs of not being too costly to run as my everyday car, but also capable of towing.

May have to use my week off to go and look at a few!

i had a 2.8TD years ago and towed a pony & a 15.2 in a 505 no problem sold it and the trailer to get a lorry but got another one a few years back (sold it this year) but not for towing so went for the 2.2 TD and it was fab too, i did borrow a trailer think it was a 510 to tow my young sec D to a show when the lorry broke down and it coped fine but not sure how it would have been with anything bigger
