Since Jura has been having all the problems with her health a side-effect is her total lack of house training - she hasn't got diarrhoea, just needs to go about every 4 hours. I got so fed up of having to clean the kitchen floor EVERY time I leave her that I tried shutting her in a cage tonight - I put her out in the garden, then popped her in the cage and went out at 7.30pm, got back at 10.50pm, and the smell hit me as I came through the front door.

She can't even last overnight, when I put her out at 11pm and get up at 6am! I think it is almost a habit she has got into now - any ideas how to break the habit, since she just does it in the cage if I shut her in one

Or do I just have to keep cleaning up every single time I go out...

What times do you feed her? Is it possible to give her more during the day then an early tea so she can go out last thing - then there should be nothing more to come out?

For some reason I have always fed my greyhounds/lurchers twice a day (although I never did with the whippets

) - they are fed at 8am then again when I get in from work, around 4.30-5pm.

It's odd, I know she isn't processing her food properly, but there seems to be no relationship between how often/how much/when she is fed and when she has to go out

Even on the odd morning/afternoon when she won't eat, she still seems to do as much
