Sorry, but cut help?

Sorry! No answers in Vets and being the total numpty I am not sure what to do...

Went to check mare this morning and she had a nasty cut. Its about the size of a 10p and looks as though the skin has just been peeled off

I'v cleaned it with the antispeptic wipe type things in the yard first aid kit but what else can I do?

Shes out 24/7 at the minute and all the flies are just gathering on it but dont want to put fly spray on the open wound ...

Any advice would be great!

Sudocrem! It will help heaing, as it's antiseptic, and it's nice and thick so flies can't get through it to the wound.

As long as you dont think its big enough /deep enough to need a vet look at it i usually clean and then slather with sudocrem if they have to stay out - keeps flies away and helps to stop infection

Just been down and cleaned it again and stuck a tonne of Sudodream on. She seems alot happier now with no flies on it!

My mare has this! Under her stomach just infront of her teats! It look like you describe but a little oozy/swollen. I really have no idea what has caused it... Any way you could post a photo?
