sorry but need help on 'how much to ask for safe horse'

I have a lovely 12yr old WC x TB (very attractive not cobby looking, just chunky). He really is a once in a lifetime horse. Absolutely loves people and is everyone favourite horse on a large yard.
however he is only capeable of doing low level riding club and I really want to do more now. He has won ridden hunter championships, starter stakes jumping. Hunted, done small Xc, but not really brave, fun rides, came 5th in only ever Trec comp

Is a complete angel to take anywhere, will happily stand anywhere for hours on end 100% box, shoe clip etc. Fun forward going hack even a fairly novicey rider could hack him in company. Can nap when alone but I learn't to ride on him so ?? Absolutely anyone can ride him in the school! Can pretend he is spooky. Loads of character but manners of a saint.
Did have a slight annullar ligament problem a few months ago but was never even lame. Jumping, galloping happily again.

Does need a low starch high oil diet. but has never tied up


How much should I ask for him?
 
I have to say I wouldn't call him a novice ride, I know my mum wouldnt be happy on him, nor my sister (experienced but not currently happy on a spooky horse)..but many RCers would be up to it. When you say not really brave what do you mean?
Ligament problems worry me too and if you re honest about it, I think it will drop the price.
 
by brave I guess I mean a little spooky oh he will jump all the jumps at somerford park and quite a few of them at Eland lodge but some just scare him and it might take him a couple of attempts to jump them. When he spooks out hacking he only jumps, doesn't spin or anything
 
right...I have to say I think your definition of 'safe' is different from mine... I would be wanting something bombproof and honest for safe. not sure on price, depends what market he is most suitable for which I'm not sure, low level rc I would imagine would pay 2.5K possibly.
 
ok thanks. too be honest I am really struggling with the idea of selling him, he is so sweet and we have been thro so much together. But I do want to do more and am not young enough to wait till he retires completely
 
I would probably say about £3k but would definately advise against advertising him as safe as from what you've said it could be quite misleading!
 
why is he only capable of doing low level riding club? have to agree with triplesandh on opinions of safe, my views on safe would be bombproof too.
 
Did you say how big he is? I think honesty is the best policy when telling people what he's like. What you've said in your message is very positive and gives the real picture. Then it's up to possible buyer to decide if that is what they want in a horse. Good luck.
