Hi all. Just found out my husband is being made redundant and I can't afford two horses any more... in honestly it is taking up more time and money than I ever thought anyway, and I think it's time to do the sensible thing and let the baby one go to a nice new home. He's a lovely little horse and will give someone so much fun - I have no idea what to ask for him. Any thoughts?

15.3 (nearly 16hh)! rose grey gelding, rising 5, very pretty and sweet natured, loves cuddles and is completely well-mannered in every way. Hacks alone or in company, jumps anything you point him at whether it is SJ or XC. Has XC schooled and seen water, ditches, logs, steps, and drops. Will do a really nice SJ round with no complaints or spooks, has never once stopped at anything. I haven't jumped him over 3 foot, but he jumped out of his field once and the fences at the lowest point are 4'6!! Goes straight on the bit with good hind action, will do a lovely dressage test. I have taken him out once to local dressage and got nice comments, warmed up like an absolute pro and didn't worry at all about the other horses whizzing about. He is absolutely genuine. Everyone who has met him can't believe how sensible he is for his age, he just wants to please all the time.

Help!!!

Thank you very much for any thoughts! Also where to advertise?

xx

Ha ha! If I could afford it I would, as he really needs to go to a lovely home!

I would loan him but at his age I want to be sure he is going to someone who will treat him as their own and really put the effort in. I know you get some great loan homes, but I feel that once someone invests some money in a horse they make more effort to bring it on properly. He is far too nice to risk spoiling in any way.

Also I have another horse who was injured at the end of last year, which is why I bought this one; I expected the old one to be off for at least a year but his recovery has gone better than expected and he is also back in full work. This means I can't do either of them justice (at the moment I pay someone to ride - madness!) and certainly couldn't manage to compete both.

Thanks for the good wishes! If you know anyone with time for lots of cuddles let me know (I have had to allow an extra 10 minutes every day for cuddles with him - he gets offended if I forget!).

Completely understand not wanting him spoilt at his age - just thought it would mean you'd still have him later on when your situation suited. (I'm mainly biased as i'm looking for a loan hehe!) such a shame you're having to let him go, if i win the lottery this weekend i'll let you know!

Best of luck!

I really hope you find a nice home for him, if I wasn't away at uni he would be just the type of beasty I would be looking to but.
As regards the price I know someone selling a 4yo who has good movement and is well bred (not sure about her jumping) for £4950 and she isn't selling atm (although she is a rather unfortunately marked coloured, she would be lovely if she didn't have such odd patches!
