how tragic..poor girl and her family.

i dont understand what they mean when they say the fence wasn't secured to the ground? wouldn't the horse still have tripped even if it was solid?
 
another tragedy...

My heart goes out to her family, the other teenagers in her PC ride and the instructor. As an instructor myself I cannot imagine how horrific that would be. :(
 
from what i can gather from the report, it is a XC fence with should be secured to the ground, the horse hit it which jumped up into the air causing the pair to somersault. nasty accident RIP Jade
 
Agreed, I thought that a solid fence was more likely to cause a rotational fall than anything else, hence the use of frangible pins to make them fall apart on impact? Someone like Kerilli would be useful here..
