Was thinking of a tom thumb but have seen various other bit i like the look of now :/ and cant find any in a 6"! any reccomendtions?
Its for jumping my 17.2 who has a tendancy to rush his fences and stick his head in the air.. just need a bit more control.. more than a snaffle but dont need a huge amreican gag with enormous shanks or anything like that

what about just a hanging snaffle? if he's a snaffle mouth maybe a little more poll pressure might encourage him to lower his head?

funnily enough i tried one in him today HAve been investigating and found a really good site with near on essays for nearly every bit out there! am now thinking of getting something with 2 reins as hes so light on the flat, and in between fences, so he doesnt need the pressure there all the time

I sometimes xc in my double as then I can literally drop the weymouth when I don't need/want it - but then can use it when I need to - and then it's not like having a gag in which you can't but avoid picking up the reins and using.
I'm sure you're aware but two reins jumping takes a bit of practise - otherwise you just pull them around with the harshest bit you can without reasling! eeeep!

umm i wouldnt say he went worse... i just feel he could have gone better.. yehh will have lessons the first time i use it on him as have used 2 reins before but not for a while!

i quite liked the look of the balding gag.. i guess ill just have to experiment!

if he didn't go any worse then maybe try that for a few sessions - it takes a while to get used to these things so altering it a few times in a week might not be to your best advantage (plus you'll run out of options quicker too!)

yeh, it just didnt seem to feel any different to the snaffle :/ so id rather go in the snaffle than the hanging cheek out of the two.. i wont want to jump him for the next few days anyway and i only need it for jumping so have time to sort something out

after xmas will be able to get some videos aswell as im guessing thats my xmas pressy from mum haha
ordering a balding gag today and booked in a lesson for next weekend!

Hopefully he'll go well in it as were booked in to go sjing on the 29th Will post pictures when i get somee

If you want a tom thumb we do two models in 6", a sweet iron and a stainless steel lozenge.

We also have jumper bits which are similar in action to a tom thumb
