Come to the sad decision that my lorry will have to be sold at the end of the summer season this year - we bought it when we were out every weekend with my 15hh arab and my husband's 16.3 HW ISH, but she has been sold now as a broodmare due to an injury and I can't really justify running a 2/3 horse box for one 450kg horse
So I was just wondering what people think it would be worth? It is a 1986 Bedford TL, navy blue with a gold stripe (a few surface scratches of the paint due to trees but otherwise looks good for its age). It has done 160,000 miles, and only been owned by me and one other person in the last 10 years! Previous owner's husband was an HGV mechanic and I have had it regularly serviced and looked after, I will sell with one year's plate.
Horse area had a new floor a few years (4?) ago, and has been parked on concrete ever since. Partitionned for 3 but better suited to 2 decent size horses, had several 16.3hh horses in there, only one who was a tight fit was one that is extremely long in the back - 7'0 rug and not wide at all!! We repainted so it is white on the top half wood pannelled lower half, liquid rubber floor. Solid ramp, can easily be managed by one person (me, and I am only short!!)
Living has huge double bed, gas hob/grill/oven, sink, fridge (all work fine), table, benching with storage under, and all in good condition/smart looking.
Since I have had it, I have put 3 new tyres on, and had a new starter motor and battery. It has otherwise started every time (until it needed the new motor, fine ever since!), and we have been as far as Lincoln in it (5 hours!) and regularly do up to 2 hours each way.
I had it checked when I bought it 2 years ago by the guy that advertises in H&H, and he passed it with flying colours for its age. Only bad points are the odd bit of rust (its a 1986 bedford!!) no cut through although I am planning to get CCTV installed soon for my use over the summer so would sell with that, and obviously not a tilt cab. Oh, and no radio but working on that as want it for the long trips this summer!!
Any ideas what it would sell for?
I like to think it is that rare gem, a reliable lorry for someone on a budget!! I'll miss her lots when she goes but just can't justify it
