Hi,

OK. What sort of things need to be said in a contract for a Part Loan situation? Obvisously, it will vary from a full loan, and wondered how etc?

Things like shoeing could be split 50/50, as well as jabs, worming etc. What about Insurance? What if the vet was needed for injuries etc?

Also what days do you have the horse?

Cookies to all that reply!!
Cheers Guys!!

part loan is a share really isnt it.......... so you will need things like
1) who pays for what (would be unusual I think to expect a sharer to pay vets bills etc tho) ie a sharer usually pays £X each month and thats it
2) what they can and cant do with horsie (competing, jumping, schooling etc etc)
3) what days/chores they are expected to do (mucking out/poo picking/tack cleaning etc)
4) sharer will need personal insurance

I have a sharer for my horse, she pays a flat fee every month (on first of month) and has him for 3 set days a week although we do swap now and again if we need to. She also has him full time when I'm on holiday and vice versa. I'm happy for her to do what she wants with him, but in reality she only hacks and might go in the school of an evening in the winter. I deal with everything in terms of shoes, vet, teeth, back etc. I tried to stop her paying me at the moment as he's lame but she instists on keeping going and wants me to put it towards the vet's bill, even though he's insured, bless her. She's even resorted to cash in my boots as I didn't pay her cheque in!

The only thing I insisted on was that she had insurance. We were both very clear fromthe start what we expected from each other so we both know where we stand and it works well. In fact I wouldn't swap her for the world!

normal here is flat rate monthly plus 1/2 of shoes everything else is your responsibility but rider should have her own insurance for her self and a contract written up and it made clear its only a share
