hi i posted a how much earlier on but didn't get any firgures and i forgot to add some stuff, can anyone give me a rough estimate??

out of work for over a year, main problem hacking out alone. has turned back into a normal pony again ie not bein mean. great ridden in company, has lots of potential just needs to be brought back into work again. she does have a super jump, i have loose schooled her over around 3"6 but i don't have the experience to bring her on in jumping. to be sold with 2 brand new rugs and her bridle, saddle would be sold seperatly as it was like £900.

any help would be greatly appreciated, i'm not expecting much for her

but previously was worth £4K. He was 14.2hh 11yr old grey gelding - absolutely stunning. The best ever personality, hacks alone, traffic, good with ALL horses and people, no vices, dressage pre-novice and nearly always placed. Unaff. jumping 75cm and won most of them, jumped up to 90/95cm at home, would excel in showing as he is gorgous - but that's not my sphere.

Highlands are nearly always more than people think!!
 
Well obviously I haven't seen her but she sounds like she has potential and Highlands are reknowned to be bombproof (most of them are anyway!!) There are ALWAYS people looking for native ponies for their children as they are so economical and easy to look after, or older people looking for a hobby or a hack. I don't think you'd have a problem selling her for £2-2.5K if her only problem is hacking alone? They are fantasic little things!

Nothing against Poppy at all, but I certainly wouldnt say she was a childs pony.

with her issues at the mo, age, and the fact she is unreg, I would say £1500 with bridle and rugs.

Obviously if she was reschooled and got over all her issues that could easily double, but im just basing my price at how she is now.

I agree with you to some extent. But I never said all Highlands are suitable for children..? I am speaking about 9-14 year old children, not YOUNG children. Aside from hacking out alone,which is not a big problem, I don't see what is such a major issue that she would need to be reschooled. A perfect little project/hobby for an older women in my opinion, if not a child.
 
i have to say she is bombproof out hacking in company. i would prefer her to go to an adult obviously, but i actually got her as a 13/14yo myself and she was 10 times worse than she is now. if it was a child they would have to be super duper mature child lol!!
 
I'm still sticking to my original price, just because it's an adults horse it won't be cheaper than if it were a childs. She sounds like a super project, I would love something like that now, and I'm 17!! Saying that though, there are so many younger children getting into bringing on horses and selling them nowadays, it's really surprising!!
 
If the target market is happy hackers and children, the fact that she won't hack out alone is actually quite a big black mark against her. I wouldn't buy my child a pony that was unsafe to hack out alone...and you CANNOT describe a horse as bombproof if it will not hack out alone. You just can't. The sort of people looking for big bombproof natives are exactly the sort of people who do have cause to hack out alone and don't want a fight on their hands every time it comes to leaving the yard.

I would say £1500 top whack. If you can sort out the hacking problem, you could ask for more.
 
Registered Highlands do go for quite big money these days, all things being equal, but being unregistered and not liking going out alone will reduce the price, I have a stunning registered Highland for sale at the moment, goes out alone, in company first, last, has done everything from hunting to dressage, forward going, she comes with all good tack and rugs, and the asking price is £3,500, because she has a dish, oh yes, and she's 9,and I know she will sell easily,in fact we have been offered £5,000, but it wasn't the right home. So around the 18,00 would probably be a fair asking price, you may get more. As someone said, a horse is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Yes but that isnt the only issue, she is strong has had issues on the ground, needs a firm handler by the sounds of things. I wouldnt let a child handle a pony like that. espec not a 9yr old!

And I would say hacking out alone is a big issue for a childs pony, wont be any gogd at pony club if the pony is trying to follow everyone else and wont do its own thing. could get dangerous.

I stand by my original price as at 10 and needing reschooling, remember she is in a field out of work, I think thats what she is worth.

but you dont even know what she does when she wont hack out alone, what if she was a rearer, threw herself over, etc etc, that is a very niave comment if you know nothing about the horse.
