Yeah sorry I posted this before but yet to decide beyond seeing how tomorrow is. I'm not in the area with severe weather warnings.

Had a look on different forecasts and it says 16 - 18 mph winds and gusts up to 30mph.

I'm supposed to be going to a show with a friend tomorrow and both of us has had all the latest shows blown/rained off, so although we obviously wouldn't compromise the horses safety for anything, trying to get opinions.

It's be 1 horse, 15.1hh in a Iforwilliams trailer pulled by a 4x4..Route is generally mainly motorways, but alternative route could be found.

Luckily don't need to leave til 12 - 1ish tomorrow. If its really windy and obvious no no we obviously won't go at all. However if its quite windy but not obviously unsafe (if that makes sense lol) would you (with it being 16 - 18mph and 30mph gusts)

A. Not go at all

B. Go but go via back route so less exposed

C. Go on motorway

I obviously don't want to risk the horse, but I don't want to not go when people who know more about it than I do think its safe. If that makes sense lol.

Well all I know is that me and GinaGem were meant to be going SJing tomorrow and we have called it of because of the forecast. It’s just not fun driving the trailer when it’s windy. We are in the SouthEast.

Thanks, we're in the south east too. I know its very unlikely we will go, but I guess I'm just trying to think of a way to make it work xD

I know, it’s so disappointing when you prepare yourself to go out! I just keep telling myself that there will be loads of opportunities to get out in the spring and summer!

See what you think in the morning but I can’t imagine that the forecast is going to be that wrong seeing what the weather was like today. Sorry.

True =(

Well there will be lots of oppertunities to go out in spring and summer PROVIDING we have a summer :P:P:P

Oh well I'll just wait for a settled half an hour and jump my own horse instead. More fun anyway -sniffs- What would you rather do, bomb round on a welsh cob jumping whatever I feel like or kick a slow TB x round a SJ class? xD

Personally option 1. I’ll be doing the same but on a coloured cob!

Yeap that’s my Bodes, he is only 4 and I backed him myself back in February.

That jump wasn’t actually that big but he hadn’t done XC before so gave it some air. I’m not meant to be jumping over 50cm with him yet, but eventually I would like to think we could do 90cm? What do you think?

If you have to ask it is safe or not, you probably shouldn't go (different if you had a lorry). Hopefully the forecast is wrong and it will be O.K.

Good point. Unless the wind dies tomorrow and there's no doubt in my mind its safe to go, we won't go.

JoBo - I reckon you'll get 90cm easy! If not more, considering that must be how big he's jumping over that fence, when he's had much more schooling ect, who knows?

I would not go personally. I live in the NW and the winds are not too bad here but I still wouldnt travel my horse in it and I have a transit box

All the lorries on our yard were swaying about today while parked.

Wouldn't bother if it were me personally, i've been out today in a solid heavy 7.5ton and the weather around lunchtime was dire coming home, didn't dare go over 20 as the wind was buffeting all over, dosen't make for a pleasant trip at all. It was fine when i went out, just drizzling..

im watching the forecast to as ment to be going sj tomorrow.have been caught out in the lorry (7.5 ton ) before when the wind suddenly picked and its surprising how it can practically throw the lorry around. i definately wouldnt risk going out with a trailer. if its raining i can sit in the lorry and watch the kids get wet but if its windy im not going anywhere!

Bah it doesn't look so bad /now/. but I assume we'll be going back at 6 and there wind and gales is stronger then soooo...Nevermind.

I know, I got up and there are blue skies. Saying that it is still quite breezy out there. We have still decided not to go as didn’t want to get there and not want to drive home, especially as we were going about an hour away.

Hope you have fun riding though!

Well mine was cancelled anyway as they didn't want people to risk travelling.

Had an interesting ride anyway -laughs-
