Hi everyone

My share can be a little spooky and have been thinking about getting some ear veils that are supposed to muffle sound.

Has anyone used them with/without success on a spooky horse? I'd love to hear your views.

Completely changed one horse I work with. We now refer to them as his 'brave hat'.

It isn't going to magically fix every horse. But certainly worth a try for the cost.
Personally I don't get on with the Le Meiux ones (seen one too many bridles fall off when using them. It may well happen with other brands but this is my experience) and I really wish more companies would do them in extra full!

Thanks, Ruth. Is there a particular make you'd recommend?

I bought the Le Mieux “acoustic”. First time I used it I was super impressed. My mare has a spooky corner in our arena and didn’t react to it at all. Then the next time we were back to the corner being spooky... so didn’t work for us.

I've got the Le Mieux accoustic ears for my mare, she is noise and traffic sensitive. They 100% do work, I only use them for road hacking and travelling.
I wish I'd bought a bigger set but they fit OK, I put a shoe lace on each side of the crochet bit and I tie that onto the bridle or head collar which keeps it on fine.

I have the Woof Wear acoustic ears for my mare. I tried the Eskadron fly veil (non acoustic) but they were too small for her ears. The Woof Wear are that bit bigger so fit well. Didn’t try the Le Mieux version as a fly mask I bought from them was too small so assumed the ears would be too small too. The ears took my mare a while to get used to but after walking around a little she was fine

I hate fly veils but does anyone think these would work for clipping? He usually needs sedating but managed to clip most of him last year with cotton wool in his ears. Unfortunately he then scuppered this happening again as he refused to allow the cotton wool to be removed from his ear!

I wouldn't want an expensive one in case he wouldn't allow it to be put on/ it didn't work. I'd only use it for clipping
