hi, In the area where I am based telegraph pole barns/sheds are quite common and as I have a number of horses and buying stuff in bulk means I need somewhere to store it, I already have a large shed with telegraph pole construction (althouh you wouldn't think so cos looks like normal pro built small barn), but considering building another.

.... considering building another.

I'm sure I replied to you before, but this computer's so old and virus riddled it may not have worked!

Anyway, we fenced with telegraph poles and they've lasted well. I recommend them highly, but wouldn't choose to build with them as the frame as blockwork is far cheaper and less hassle. Per square yard, wood works out dearer and doesn't hold it's value when you want to sell. Planning permission is needed, whatever you use.

However, we got our poles from the men working on replacing hundreds in the area. Cash, of course. It's not legal, so I DO NOT recommend it (wink), as the poles are not the workmen's to sell.
Legally you can buy them at assorted auctions all over the country. York is the best place, at York Auction Centre when they have the monthly wednesday agri sale. You'll probably find pitchpine beams at the same auction, which are both cheaper and easier to build from in my experience. You'll also usually find suitable roofing, etc at the same sale. It's a few thousand lots over the whole auction, so order a catalogue and arrive early enough to view (I'm there by 7am!) to save missing out on lots.
