Just been looking on the Golden Cross website and notice they've upgraded the surface in the indoor arena to Fibresand. Looks like it's similar to the Martin Collins Ecotrack that is used at Towerlands and in the warm-up at Hickstead so should make a huge improvement to the going ! Great news

Uggghh...hate the indoor sj there-don't think a surface change will help the matter....

Any improvement is good...and as it's the most (only) active indoor BSJA venue in East Sussex now it should be viewed as a positive.

I agree there are many other things that need improving but a decent surface is a good start imo.

True....but I use that as my excuse NOT to do any indoor sj over the winter....if they improve it all, I'll actually have to 'school' my horse and not just razz round in the hunting field...
What about Crockstead-is that any good? Haven't been there for years, but have heard its improved lots.

Crockstead is for sale at a cool £4.25m and isn't running any shows for the foreseeable future unfortunately.

Will the surface at Golden Cross pong like Towerlands' does? Couldn't believe the smell there, it made my eyes run. Smelt like burning rubber.

Shame to hear Crockstead is for sale, though great if it's been sold to someone horsey. Hope they resurrect (sp?) the XC course which used to be fabby.

The place was wonderful when it was run by Ian Bareham and Sarah Johnston.
