I have just disturbed 'strangers' on my yard (3 miles from Cleobury Mortimer!) Older white hi-top transit van!

I'd woken at 5am to check on VERY due mare. Put lights on, let dogs out while I was pulling on my boots and they DETONATED towards the yard. Saw vehicle headlights and rushed out to be met by a white transit hurtling up my drive at speed!! (I wasn't going to get in its way!)

Went down to the yard expecting to find an empty tack room - but all was secure! Rang police then went back down to the yard to check my student (in the mobile home) was ok - as I was sure she'd have heard the noise.

She had - the van AND the dogs had woken her but the van had no headlights on at that point (which rules out someone being lost!) - it had JUST crept down the drive. I didn't hear it as still half asleep - but dogs obviously did!

Talk about lucky! Amazingly (for rural Shropshire) police arrived in 30 minutes (from Bridgnorth) and told me police in Ludlow and Kidderminster had also been alerted! No doubt will hear over the next day or two if they'd been 'visiting' anyone else before they got to me!

Thanks for the heads up. Lucky you were about. I've signed up for the Shropshire police ring/text round. Will be interesting to see if they pass on details of this.

Lol, they obviously didn't know it was Janet's place else they'd never have dared! They'd be in for a rude awakening, that's for sure.

Seriously, Janet, glad everything is OK and you'll be on your guard now but it does leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.
Police wise, you were very lucky; ours would have just given you a number to call if anything happened and then given you a crime number if it did;because we are right on the border of Cheshire, Shropshire & Clwyd none of them want to take responsibility for us although we are really Cheshire's problem!
