PENISTONE RIDE FOR ACCESS 2013
Supported by the Trans Pennine Trail and Barnsley Councils Public Rights of Way Dept.
Date: Saturday 18th May 2013
Venue: Small Shaw Farm Millhouse Green, S36 9NH
Start Time: Staggered start 11am to 12noon trailers and small boxes to be at the venue by 11am, large boxes by 11.30am. Please share transport if possible.
Distance: Approx 10 miles
Entry Fee: £10 all proceeds to The BHS Fighting for Access Fund
This ride has been organised by Barnsley Local Access Forum Equestrian reps and the local British Horse Society Access Officer. Rosettes for all who complete the ride - donated by Barnsley Councils PROW Dept.
Ride Information:
This is a scenic route with some hill work. Most of the route is on bridleways, country lanes & the Trans Pennine Trail with a half mile section along a B road (Lee Lane) and crossing of an A road. On the outward journey the route passes the large turbines at Royd Moor Wind Farm. There are some bridlegates to be negotiated and some of the fields may contain livestock. The route has been walked and ridden prior to the ride. All sections of the route are used by local riders. Stewards will be present on the Lee Lane section and at the crossing of the A road at Millhouse Green. Please show consideration to other participants, landowners and members of the public while you are out on the ride. Mr. & Mrs. Booth have very kindly allowed us to use their premises as a venue please be respectful of this and ensure that you dont leave anything behind.
Maps will be issued at the start the route is unmarked. Please wear hi viz tabards/clothing. All horses to be full 4 years or over. Children or young adults under the age of 18 may ride under the supervision of an adult. It is strongly recommended that all participants have public liability insurance.
