I'm interested in peoples opinion of Soya Oil. General benefits and reasons for adding to feed as opposed to using Linseed ?
Are there benefits for mares (as in women ?) Also, if I buy in large quantities, does Oil go off/ rancid (if warm) as I would only be feeding one 14.3hh

Soya oil is pro-inflammatory, containing high amount of omega6 (linseed is very high in omega3 which is anti-inflammatory)

It is always my preference to feed linseed, especially as it is now very difficult to get non-GMO soy products.

As above. But just to add: vegetable oil (of any kind) contains only fat (no proteins/carbohydrates left from the plant). So oils can differ in what kind of fatty acids they contain, but hormone-like action that is sometimes attributed to soya products would have to come from a protein (most proteins are made up of peptides/proteins, definitely not made from fats), so I don't think that soya oil would be able to have any sort of effect that way.
Unsaturated fats go rancid more quickly than saturated fats. To a degree, the healthier the oil (e.g. the omega 3 fatty acids in linseed oil) the quicker the oil will go off if it is not kept in a cool and dark place.

In terms of convenience and health benefits, I think micronized linseed is about as good as it gets. It has a shelf life of 6 months if kept in a cool place.

Ditto!
Wouldn't touch Soy with a barge pole, the treatment it goes through to make it safe is damaging to general health.

Can't beat Linseed

^^^ this, took the words right out off my mouth. Don't see the place for soya at all, linseed has so many benifits its a no brainer
