I am currently giving Harley Sunflower bought from shop for his EPSM. Have heard dodgy things about soya but alot of people on here seem to use it.
Does anyone have an opinion?
Thanks

I think you might've heard that soya is often genetically modified (it certainly is in Argentina and Brazil to make it resistent to a particular weed killer) in many respects though it is the best oil for horses (most digestible, etc, although I don't know if this applies to EPSM)- someone will explain properly I'm sure

I'm soya oil's unpaid PR person I think!
I love the stuff, has worked wonders on all the horses at my yard who have been tried on it, and I singularly credit it with turning my poor doer into a sleek, glossy coated weight-holder who's looking better than ever at 16. He can't have any cereals or molasses as he's such a hot head, and soya provides the real steady slow burn energy, and makes the seasonal coat changes much quicker and healthier.

Mine is by Dodson and Horrell, how about giving them a call and asking about the GM rumour?

what is epsm

Equine Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy

Basically it is a disease of the muscle tissue that is particularly prevailant in heavier horse breeds, but can affect any horses (don't forget WB's have heavier breeds of horse in them)

I use dodsen and horrel soya oil in the big 25litre drums. £20.50 a go and lasts me a month.

Never heard bad things about it but linseed is a big no no at epsm levels as large quantities can occassionally irritate the guts.

Oooh Squippa, didn't know they made it in that size, that would be much better for me (well not me obviously!). Can I ask where you buy that from?
