Space for a mare...

Hi all... If you know of anyone who has a mare that they can no longer look after (doesn't matter if they are stiff, unrideable etc.), we have a space to look after one. She will be used as a teaser mare at a stallion station, and will be treated wonderfully, and other than being brought in occassionally, she will live out in the field and be treated like a princess!
The owner is more than welcome to come and visit as often as they like!

I thought you used a teaser stallion on mares to see if they are really to receive the stallion. How do you use a mare as teaser for a stallion?

To collect semen for AI? Don't know - just a thought.

I thought they had a fake 'horse' thing, like a barrel on legs for that, that they put mare smell on? That's what my vet does with her stallion.

I think they use the mare to get the stallion "in the mood" then he mounts the fake mare. sometimes the mare is also used instead of a "dummy". all depends on the stallion.

Ah I understand now. Not much fun of the mare to be the dummy though
