Space saving feed bins?

I've used them in the past.

The ones that I had were quite good but not really strong enough to cope with the weight of a bag of feed. By the time you have three full, there's a lot of weight on the bottom lid.

I still have them now with a couple of cracked lids, but I've relegated them to light duties only.

My suggestion is to shop around for really strong ones, or just stack two high.

Yes I use them. I only use balancer so I have the feed in the bottom bin and odds and ends in the top one. I've not had a problem with cracking but I can imagine if you have 3 bins high all full of feed the bottom one may get squashed. I got mine from homebase, it just about takes a full bag of balancer.

Eta. You can't easily get a Stubbs scoop in and out of the opening of mine so if you measure using a Stubbs scoop you will have to get a smaller scoop to get the feed out if the bins and into the Stubbs scoop.

I use the IKEA ones but only stacked two high. They are great and will take a full bag of most feed except the chaff bags which are a lot bigger. I can get a Stubbs scoop in and out but you do have to be a little careful when taking it out when full.

I use this type of thing (not sure what size mine actually are sorry). Hold either several bags of cubes or two thirds of a bag of chaff. Only problems I've had with cracking lids is me standing on them! I put what I am using in the top bin and spares in the one underneath so it doesn't need lifting. Also good for pony rugs and tack storage in the various sizes!

I use a filing cabinet! I usually have to split chaff over 2 drawers but everything else (I had a pelleted feed balancer and now have simple systems pellets) fits in just one drawer. The drawers had a few holes in them but I just taped them up so the feed didn't spill out. A lot of people on our yard use them.

Another vote for filing cabinets here. I find that, other than chaff, a whole bag fits neatly into a drawer, I then slash a cross in the top of it and bobs your uncle.
