Spanish horse holidays

Ok, I'm on a roll with asking you lot for advice this weekend so here I go again!

Can anyone recommend a holiday in Spain that involves riding tuition, preferably in dressage on Spanish horses? Holiday would need to be authentic Spanish (no brits abroad stuff) and suitable tuition for both a bog standard rider and Prix St Georges competitor.

You could try contacting Yeguada Sarmiento http://www.clubhipicolamimbre.es/index.html which is near Cadiz.

I haven't been there myself (though plan to soon) but have heard good things. They teach all levels and can tailor make holidays, arrange accommodation etc. They are also a PRE stud.

My boyfriend's uncle trains some of the horses there so can find out any extra info from him if you need it.

Not sure how far you're going with the non-Brits stuff but Los Alamos near Cadiz is fantastic and as 'authentic' as you'll get with it hosted mainly by a really lovely, friendly, knowledgeable ex-pat family. You'd want the train and ride weeks, which combine beach and mountain riding with three lessons with a champion trainer on his horses. You've got to be able to ride at all paces for the beach/mountain riding but the horses for that are also just brilliant and do their job very well. Have been twice (and am not, ahem, any threat to anyone at PSG level, ROFL , but there were some others who were very impressive and had trained at the Royal Riding School in Jerez - tuition is in pairs but tailored to individuals) and would go back again if riding holiday priorities weren't being superseded by house/transport/hol with OH next year...!

I went to place near Tarifa on that coast not far from Jerez... Very Spanish. On the Atlantic Coast between Tarifa and Zahara de los Atunes. Lots of Spanish men riding stallions without hats on! Lol! But good tuition available. Though that coast it VERY windy, we went one Easter and it was too windy to ride on the beach due to blowy sand, so there are lots of Kitesurfers and windsurfers there... Gorgeous place though.

Another vote for Los Alamos, though not it you're after an intensive training week. Be warned though, I ended up buying two horses from Antonio (the dressage trainer) as they are so stunning, well trained and with lovely personalities!

His are mainly younger stallions rather than schoolmasters, but they are beautifully trained. If you or your friend has a particular thing you want to work on he'll make sure he has the right horse for you and train them in advance for the best training experience.

Are you wanting lessons or hacking?

I went here http://www.aventuraecuestre.com/ back in about 2003 and there was fabulous riding on the beach and sand dunes but not sure what it would be like for lessons. The horses were decent enough for experienced riders to hack, mainly iberian horses although there were some crosses I think.

Luis Valenca's place out in Portugal is amazingggggggggggg. I went their last week to train with Luis's daughter Filipa. It was pretty expensive, but well worth it, I came back with so much more knowledge and developed loads.

I was also out at Nuno Andrade's place the month before.
