Any tips on how to do these or usefull links to sites?
Also any photo's so I have a clue as to what I should end up with?
Have tried google searching but no joy yet , just lots of comments on how useful they are and how easy they are to do.

Sorry Toby that link is good but it's for normal or button plaits, those I can do .

It's these differnt ones for horses where you keep their manes longer like Andalusians that I need instructions on.

Have been sent this link
http://www.exhibitorlabs.com/article_02c.cfm
which is good for one sort but I am sure there are others out there, I've seen ones done tighter to the neck I'm sure.

You're a star, I've been trying to find some good links recently and was thinking about posting, but you've saved me starting a new thread, thanks!
I'll be watching with interest, i've seen that link, but am really after the one that runs on top of the crest if possible?
I had a go the other day, but i couldn't get it tight enough to the neck to look as smart as i'd like it too, so any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Ali the link you found where the plait starts to fall away from the neck is fine, all you need to do is use the same method but instead of plaiting in futher and further down each strand of hair, just plait it in at the root of the mane instead.

This is the method I use and you get a tight plait that sits along the bottom edge of the crest finishing up with a little long plait at the wither to do what you liike with, either roll up or put a ribbon on the bottom!

You can do them 2 ways too - like with tail plaits.... you either take the new strands over the top, so you get the regular flat plait, or take them underneath so you get a posh looking sticky outy one!! (Not the best explanation I know!!)

Errr... not sure how to describe.... you have to start the plaits different ways... you start off with your 3 clumps the same, but (assuming your horses mane is on the off side) pass the clump on the right UNDER the middle one (instead of over, which is how all the links show...), then the clump from the left UNDER the middle one, then the clump on the right under the middle one, then add a bit to the clump that is now on the left and pass that under... and carry on!

Once you have started it its easy to keep going!!! Its just getting going thats a bit tricky cos it all seems the wrong way round!!!

With a bit of practice (and a patient horse and a box to stand on!) you can get the plait to run right along the crest of the neck (but it will all pull loose if the horse streaches down!!)...

Have fun experimenting!

My pony has a really thick long mane so i braid it quite often to keep it out of the way.

I like those better too; quite tricky IMO to get used to the idea of plaiting under instead of over. I did a lovely one *smug smug*

On Antifaz and left it to see if it would still be there in the morning.... it wasn't! Nor was half of his mane!
