Well we all know that moving livery yards can be traumatic for the people and horses invloved - but very often the poor existing liveries whom have been at the "new yard" are completley overlooked and ignored.

Today a new horse was going in the field - it was arranged that we would turn out the horses one by one to allow any "problems" to be minimised. Agree that "new" will turn out first at 8am - then I will turn mine out next and then the next and so on and so on....
At yard at 7am - late for me - no sign of "new person" - it was rather icy so was sort of glad in someways.... it got to 8.30 am so i hayed mine and came home. Got phone call at 9.40am to ask where I was "she was waiting for me !"- told her to do carry on with the others I would be back at 12 to turn mine out - she threw a paddy !.

Tonight I caught in at 4 as it was dropping really icy again and no sign of "new" person - she eventurally rocked up at 5 past 6 and went mad "that someone had touched her horse" .... we have a yard rule not to leave a horse out on its own.... not for long with her attitude though.
She left her bucket under the tap and buggered off and now we have a lovely icy stream - right where all the horses have to be walked over in the morning...

Biggest problem is my little lad is madly in love with the new horse - but i think she is going to be a little sod when she puts some more weight on - and as soon as she sees anyone she gallops off taking my boy with her. I always catch him - but i did warn her that my boy can show "riggish" type behaviour but she was insistent she went into the "boys" field. looks like i will be the next one moving !

Sounds like new person is a bit of an ignorant madam. When I kept mine on livery yards I went out of my way to be considerate when I first moved on. Much easier now I have my own place.

The joys of livery yards heh? Half the problems wouldnt happen if the YO had good rules and insisted people stick to them! The rules are either silly or non existant ime.

Bl**dy selfish newby!

Huh. When we move yards, and we know it's a big influx (seven horses), we always try really hard to fit in, learn the rules and regulations both written and unwritten, etc.

Don't see why you should move hun.

Have a hot choccy and chill

THAT is why I would never go to a yard with shared turnout EVER again, I hate it, too many injuries and silly people making life difficult.....

I've just moved onto a new livery yard and am paranoid that me or the horse are going to upset someone! I try to be as clean tidy and polite as possible.

Mrs M - how on earth do you mange to find spaces for 7 - unless its a new livery yard opening up? I must admit I worry about finding another yard and I have only 3 to worry about !

Reason i think it will be my turn to move - is madam will kick up such a fuss over "my boy" being a little bit too friendly and bet your bottom dollar it will be my boy that she will demand to be asked to be kept in ! and if that happens this livery with 3 horses, whom spends a fortune on lessons etc will be moving pronto!
