This may be a stupid question mare has spavins on both hocks 4 changes on right hock and 2 on the left hock. Had treatment for them and x-rays re-done last year which showed they had fused now also a bone scan which showed 2 heat spots on right hock which was the only part that had not fully fused yet.

She is lame again so vet suggested re-doing the x-rays, so it made me think can they develop more changes, as im assuming once fused thats it that section cant change again? The side she is lame on is the side that has all fused fine and not been issue before.

I found wiht spavins they come and go for quite soem time and the horse has periods of being less than sound

Best thing I found was barefoot, feed no grains, add linseed, brewer's yeast and give plenty of exercise in a straight line (no schooling)

Afraid the powders and potions helped not a bit, they made me feel virtuous (if not poorer) and the reality for me was that the therapeutic shoeing never really helped - just made things worse.
