as on the other thread [ tachographs]
there are a lot of large tractors being driven long hours by farmers. how long before tachos and drivers hours will apply to farmers too?
it seems unfair that the rules apply to grooms and other equestrian proffessionals but not to farmers.

Tacho rules are for road safety-
overtireness is dangerous, esp as Mway driving can make drivers sleepy.
You could not make hay while the sun shines on tacho hours.

d driver can only work 5 hrs a week though. it doesnt have to be al driving. it might only be a couple of hours a day driving and the rest doing something else. So if a farmer works 60 hrs at harvest then drives along the road they are potentially tired and there could be a tiredness related accident. there was a thread on a farming forum in the autumn where people were asking each other how many times they'd fllen aslepat the wheel. quite frequently apparently. very worrying.

Yes i agree for comercial use i am a owner of 5 comercial vehicles so i fully understand the rules as we uphold these every day, But for the use of leisure vehicles for a hobby no as even with a tacho fitted in your horse box taxed private you are running under domestic rules E/U driving which even applys to you car driver out there no more than 10 hours then a reasonable time of rest is required , And lets be honest with our selfs would you risk driving your loved horses in the back when you were tired ,I think NOt horse box drivers are very careful look at statistics and insurance premiums speaks for it self no this is a imposition on our freedom and dont worry for you people who wishe to say nothing wait whats coming next , Dont wait till the horse has leftthe stable then shut the door do it NOW
