Worth buying?

My current ariats are now ~sniff~ slowly heading towards the unwearable variety after nearly 5 years as need 3 hands to get the zips done up

plus the suede's gone on the inside.

So looking to replace them with the above ^^ - worth the money? Anyone have a pair? Good/bad experiences etc?

thanks guys!

sikaran, I like all the Ariat stuff too, but what attracts me most with the close contact ones is that they do the colour to match my boots & the zip is down the back too

I have got some of the chocolate brown close contact Ariat chaps and they are fantastic. I have had them for 2 years and they have not gone out of shape or started to ride down. Well worth the money as they will last!

I have the ariat crown pro chaps, I love them, just bought another pair. They are the only things I can find that are long enough and narrow enough to fit my lower leg without being horrendously expensive. Wore my last pair every day for three years before they gave up and that was only cos my spur caught the elastic and ripped them! Didnt look after them as well as I should of either and they still came up as good as new for competing in. Think the close contact would fit pretty much the same. I wanted a spare pair of everyday chaps so I bought the all around chap by ariat, did try on the ariat classic chap but i didnt like the way it fitted.

I'm embarassed to admit that I have a pair of classic chaps, close contact and crown pros

(and 3 pairs of heritage boots plus 1 pair of devon pros

) and they all come very highly recommended from me. The close contact chaps wear much better than the classic chaps which look tatty pretty quickly, although I think the crown pros look the smartest for competitions.

I love ariat chaps.

I've got some long leather Konigs boots for important shows, but I have a pair of ariat heritage boots and crowne pro chaps for normals comps. The look really smart.

I did have some classic ariat chaps with the padded suede inners which lasted five years with very heavy wear. I have now replaced them with the close contact ones.

All of the ariat chaps wear well and are definately worth the money. I'm not sure whether the close contact or classic ones would wear the best for everyday, so we will have to see in five years time!

Right, looks like I'm going to be bargain hunting at Hickstead then!

I can't fault ariat in any way, the current ones have stood up to some heavy wear at times, but I can barely get them on now
