HI has anyone else found that speedibeet makes there horse a bit hyper? I have been feeding it to my cob.. not much, just a soaked scoop in the morning and the same at night along with his chaff and hi fibre nuts and i honestly think that its making him hyper.. He was so quiet when i got him and i changed him onto speedibeet and hes just so perky now.. Have any of you guys found this too? I feed speedibeet to my other horse and hes fine...

No - my hairy chaps have it with no problem and even my WB who had to be very carefully kept without much sugar in her feeds was ok on it.

Try taking it out and change nothing else in his diet or workload/turnout to see if it is the problem.

both my TB's are fine on it.

It may be that he has now come out of his shell and this is his true character or the cold weather is making him a little fresh

Definatley not! My TB is so laid back at the moment that he's practically falling over! He has quite a large feed (is a little underweight) with a big scoop of speedibeet in it & is nowhere near hyper.
Ditto what angua2 said. Sounds like he's just got settled & is starting to feel a bit lively.

I feed mine speedi-beet in the winter, one is a warmblood the other a cob. Both of them do well on it and their behaviour hasn't changed.

I know I cant feed my mare sugar beet as she goes loopy.

i gave my 3 year old cob speedibeet for a few days, no where near a scoop probably around 1/4 scoop twice a day.... and he started being really naughty and dragging me around, so ive cut it out now, its just my shetland that gets it to fill her up more than anything as shes prone to escaping if she's hungry!!!
