i have been feeding speedibeet to my 2 slightly over weight horses, i have been reading other posts and now get the impression that this puts weight on, is this true, i thought with it been unmolassed and 95% sugar free that it wouldn't. i do need my feed to be damp, this is one of the reasons why i opted for speedibeet. they also have hifi lite and a balancer, would i be better off just dampening it with water.

This time of year I would not be feeding speedibeet to chubby types. Water will be fine to damp down feed. I use it over winter for a fit competition pony but the minute the grass comes through I stop it.

i stop my beet when warmer weather comes ..as soon as the summer is over and the colder nights are drawing in a signs of frosts then i re start mine.. i used alot on my mare over the winter as she was underweight when i got her and its put on nicely now.. with the help from build up cubes too..

what breed are your horses? any pics?

speedibeet is very helpful if you need you horse to gain weight, but also completly works aganst you if you don't. I use water to dampen feeds.

they both seem good doers. i would just wait until colder weather comes before starting back on it .. i have to watch my mare as shes tb xtrotter and was in poor condition when i got her due to never been out of foal .. so i have struggled this winter trying to get weight on as long as in the summer you get the weight on then you find it easier in winter. well i do lol .... im open to any more suggestions though on other peoples advise..

If they are overweight why do you need to feed them at all? there is loads of goodness in the grass this time of year unless they are deficient in something else?

the reason i feed them is to make sure they get all vitamins and minerals as my gazing is slightly poor, also they are in all day as my mare is prone to lammi, only turned out during the night. they both get worked but not enough tho.
